The visuals were good, and any narrative that further explores the Final Fantasy VII is going to be welcomed with open arms. However, in the context of Final Fantasy games, it was a bit of a mixed bag. It is also the first game in the series to feature summoned creatures. In terms of PSP games, Crisis Core was a pretty decent, even good game. Then there are all of the games in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII metaseries. However, these were not the only mainline games to get sequels.įinal Fantasy XIII had both a sequel, Final Fantasy XIII-2, and a strange third entry called Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, which effectively turned FF13 into a trilogy. The After Years was a sequel to 1991's FF 4. A year later, in 2008, the episodic Final Fantasy IV: The After Years released. Likewise, Final Fantasy XII (12) got a DS sequel called Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings in 2007. The tale of Tidus, Yuna, Sin, and excessive amounts of blitzball was immensely popular, which is probably why Square Enix followed it up with Final Fantasy X-2 in 2003.
